Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Material Planner performs “end-to-end” material supply management activities to meet material demand requirements. This includes planning, order placement, expedition, and redistribution of materials to support of both planned and unplanned work across Transmission, Substation, Distribution, and Generation lines of business. The Material Planner will assist local management in inventory control, logistics, materials forecasting, our internal safety program and act as a contact in storm restoration efforts in the absence of local management. The Material Planner may function as the onsite supervisor in the absence local management once fully qualified.

Duties to include:

  • Analyze and make recommendations on stocking levels that comply with material management policies
  • Manage inventory levels at distribution centers against established target levels
  • Organize and monitor the material obsolescence program
  • Manage material/ product transition plans and establish order points
  • Ensure material is available for forecasted large jobs
  • Manage material container usage and associated actions
  • Initiate and monitor the cycle count process
  • All other duties as assigned


Education and Experience Requirements:

The preferred candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field. Knowledge of procurement, contract negotiations, logistics, material management, inventory and/or warehousing is highly preferred. Candidates with field experience and project planning knowledge will be considered.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:

Requires team work and communication skill with both internal and external customers.

Must be able to multi-task, operate within short time frames and process information in an organized, timely and accurate manner.

Must have knowledge of business processes and skills in organizing and analyzing inventory management data into meaningful databases, reports and presentations.

Must have an understanding of personal computers and the various databases, spreadsheets and reporting capabilities that are available.

Synergen Work Management System experience is preferred.

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:

Must have a current driver’s license.

Working Conditions:

Normal office working conditions.

Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
