While participating in the electric distribution designer training program and through practical field experiences, this role coordinates with internal and external customers for the design and installation of electric distribution facilities. Requires the determination of material, time and cost estimates for the construction, maintenance and relocation of electric distribution facilities. Designs electric distribution facilities based on customer load requirements and existing facilities. Analyzes electrical load data and performs calculations to determine size and location of electric distribution facilities based on engineering standards.
Inspects project sites, determines metering requirements, prepares service agreements, and prepares detailed drawings utilizing Arc-FM, Auto-Cad, or other tools as appropriate. Utilizes work management system to prepare cost estimates based on design of new construction or modification of existing facilities. Coordinates installation/relocation of other utilities (i.e. cable television, phone, etc). Prepares underground agreements, billing authorities, revenue calculations, etc. Determines tree-trimming requirements and initiates activity. Secures right-of-way permits, easement agreements and highway/railroad permits. Communicates company policy and procedures, electric service requirements and project schedule to customers. Reconciles construction as-builts to ensure mapping accuracy in GIS. Assists in service restoration during outages.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
0 - 3 years related experience.
Prefer bachelor's degree; combination of education and experience is acceptable (such as Associates degree with 2 years experience).
Basic knowledge of electric distribution design, electricity, company policies and procedures and mainframe and personal computer.
Skills: verbal, written and interpersonal communication; time management and organization; project management; math and technical aptitude.
Abilities: effectively interact with customers; teaming; detail oriented; physical attributes to perform essential functions - walking, climbing, stooping, bending and prolonged standing.
Must have valid driver's license and be able to drive.
