The Test Engineer will be responsible for the calibration, repair and maintenance of all calibrated instruments and test equipment for the various PSEG Divisions. Additionally, this position will also track calibration processes using the MET Track/Met Cal systems.

Duties include:

  • Perform work assigned following prescribed calibration procedures

  • Support on-site calibrations at various locations

  • Modify test procedures, apparatus, set-ups, methods, and computer applications to meet requirements for tests

  • Instruct assigned personnel when needed

  • Perform a variety of routine and non-routine tests and inspections, as instructed.

  • Developing complete test set-up(s) to support calibration/testing needs.

  • Inspect, clean, adjust, calibrate, and repair all test instruments and equipment used in the work in the facility and the field to assure instrumentation is operating properly and with prescribed accuracy.

  • Witness and approve tests and examinations of equipment, components and materials, normally tested by division personnel, in manufacturers’ plants and other locations.

  • Develop and write reports, perform and check computations on tests and investigations for completeness and accuracy.

  • Operate any Company vehicles as required

  • Obtain ANSI certification(s) to meet QA Program requirements

  • Conduct assigned work so that personnel and the public are safeguarded at all times

Typical work (laboratory and field assignments) includes:

  • Repair Instruments

  • Calibrate Field Instruments

  • Assure Quality Assurance Records are maintained

Requirements:

  • Must have completed at least two years of college in an engineering or science curriculum

  • Must have a basic working knowledge and be able to acquire a thorough working knowledge of the principles of science and engineering as they apply to the work (such as electrical power applications, electronic circuitry, chemistry, materials science, physics, etc.).

  • Must be a careful and thorough worker and be able to exercise good judgment.

  • Must possess the skill and knowledge necessary for certification(s) to the required level in all pertinent test disciplines.

  • Must be willing to attend all training required in order to perform the duties of the position

Desired:

  • BS Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering

  • Experience working in a Calibration Laboratory

  • Experience with design or repair of electronic devices

  • Experience using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers

  • Experience with SMT soldering

  • Understanding of basic electronic circuits

  • Knowledge of SAP
