The Supervisor, Plant Production (Operations Coordinator) opening is located at the Bruce Mansfield Power Plant in Shippingport, PA.

The Supervisor, Plant Production (Operations Coordinator) is accountable for the direction and supervision of employees engaged in power plant operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating all maintenance and engineering work activities required in the Operations Department with the other station departments to insure all work is completed in the safest, most efficient manner possible.

  • Assuring the safe, reliable operation of large supercritical electric generating units in an environmentallycompliant and cost-effective manner.

  • Directing the activities of operating crew personnel when required, including giving direction to the workers regarding safety, operating conditions, work assignments and expectations.

  • Developing employees and promoting a professional work environment.

  • Conducting regular rounds to assure safe, effective work performance and proper equipment operation.

  • Assessing and investigating equipment problems including root cause analysis.

  • Monitoring and enforcing established work practices, rules, methods, policies, and safety practices.

  • Monitoring equipment operation and troubleshooting equipment problems using data acquisition systems.

  • Directing the workforce in response to emergencies, making timely and accurate decisions.

  • Working with other departments, coordinating equipment repairs, operating parameters and expectations

  • Effectively communicating and interfacing with other departments; promoting teamwork and eliminatingbarriers.


-Associates Degree, military equivalent, or formal technical training with a minimum of 5 years of Power Plant / Utility / Heavy Industry experience.

  • Work experience in power plant operation with associated air quality control systems would be desirable, but not required.

  • Demonstrated knowledge, training and experience in the following areas: Power plant layout andconstruction, electric utility steam generating power plant operations to include once through supercriticalboilers, steam turbines, generators and associated control and auxiliary equipment, mechanical maintenance equipment to include but not limited to pumps, turbines, boilers, compressors, gearboxes, piping, valves, pulverizers, fuel handling equipment, air quality control systems, etc., Electrical Maintenance practices and procedures in regard to equipment and voltage, and equipment isolation and tagging procedures.

  • Experience with digital control systems, data acquisition systems, and performance monitoring systems is a plus.

  • Possession of a Stationary Steam Engineer License is a plus although not required.

  • Analytical ability to assess, troubleshoot and decide on preventative and remedial measures is required

  • Strong written and oral communications and effective interpersonal skills is required.

  • PC skills that include Microsoft applications.

  • Availability to work rotating shift schedules, temporary schedules and overtime

  • Possessing a knowledge of Federal, State and Regulatory policies and procedures in reference toEnvironmental, Safety and Labor agreements.
