This is an open position with FirstEnergy Generation Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FOCM]
The position is responsible for the safe and efficient direction of a plant Instrument and Test MaintenanceSection crew at the Bruce Mansfield generating plant. Candidates will be required to have extensiveexperience in the Instrument and Test area, with a working knowledge of the Maintenance and Operationsareas.
Supervising bargaining unit employees engaged in complex instrument and test maintenance repair, overhaul and construction work on plant generating and environmental control equipment, and all associatedstructures.
Planning, scheduling and safely executing instrument and test maintenance tasks associated withday-to-day and outage work.
Interfacing daily with the plant technical section and plant production section to promote teamwork andensure that the appropriate instrument & test maintenance activities are identified, approved, scheduled andexecuted.
Ensuring that the instrument and test maintenance section personnel are utilizing and following correctmaintenance, testing and safety procedures, job quality descriptions(JQD's), job safety assessments (JSA's),job safety briefings (JSB's), etc.
Supporting and enforcing company policies, including working hours and break times, while coordinatingefforts with planning, engineering and plant operations to develop weekly schedules and ensure timelycompletion of maintenance with high quality standards.
Meeting all housekeeping program requirements including safety walk downs and pre-job briefings.
Participating in feedback processes to develop action plans for continuous improvement.
Making recommendations regarding utilization of existing plant capability and creation of new capability toenhance performance and profitability.
Maintaining close working relationships with other plant section supervisors and the plant management.
Associate's degree in a related field, military equivalent or the equivalent career-related skills, training andexperience.
Minimum of 5 years experience in a super critical power plant facility or equivalent industrial experience.
Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or engineering position, or progressive experience in instrument& test maintenance and repair work.
Previous supervisory experience to include effective leadership skills to communicate with and direct thework of others by ensuring safe practices and produce satisfactory work results.
Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams and equipment maintenanceprocedures.
Proven power generation plant Instrument and test, electrical and mechanical, maintenance experience inrotating equipment overhauls, including turbines and generators, 125vdc, 115vac, 480v repairs, testing andinstrumentation, new construction and plant upgrades.
Knowledgeable in work management systems and be able to read and interpret scheduling networkdiagrams, as well as manage multiple jobs with various craft labor disciplines.
Knowledge of union contracts, along with strong oral and written communication skills.
Thorough knowledge of the company's Accident Prevention Handbook and safety programs.
Thorough knowledge of clearance and switching control procedures.
Proficient with Microsoft PC applications.
Willing to work irregular and extended hours when necessary.
Must possess a valid state driver's license.
Must live or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance to the reporting location.
