About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Generation Corp., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corporation. [FOCM]

This position reports to the Superintendent, Construction at Bruce Mansfield Plant in Shippingport, PA.

The incumbent is accountable for the management and oversight of all assigned projects, to their successfulcompletion.

Responsibilities include:

  • Following established safety and environmental process and regulations including participating in thecoaching and mentoring of others in these processes.

  • Maintaining a safe work environment for all employees using a knowledge of potential hazards andgovernmental and industry regulations and requirements.

  • Supporting FirstEnergy safety initiatives and promoting continuous improvement of contractor safety andenvironmental compliance.

  • Initiating required work independently.

  • Making evidence-based decisions and maintaining accountability for those decisions by providingsupporting facts and rationale.

  • Ensuring that all Construction, safety and human performance requirements are met prior to project siteturnover.

  • Providing technical support to contractor personnel related to plant operations, systems and equipment.

  • Supporting project development, providing input to scope development, budget, economic justification,engineering design and constructability issues and assisting in drafting work scope documents.

  • Documenting construction resource performance against expectations, change orders and issues onAssigned projects during execution so that problems and deviations are managed and resolved in a timelymanner.

  • Utilizing all provisions and terms within the company’s alliance and contractor agreements to achievequality, productivity and cost effectiveness during the project.

  • Performing all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or related field and 3 years of related experience orAssociates’degree in an Engineering Technology or related field with 4 years of related experience.

  • In lieu of degree, 6 years of related experience.

  • Experience with coordinating construction projects, outages or equivalent projects is preferred.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills required.

  • Working knowledge of various Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access).

  • Experience with scheduling software is preferred.

  • Willing to work extended hours as necessary to meet deadlines and to ensure resolution ofconstruction-related issues and problems.

  • Good motivational talents and demonstrated capabilities to set well defined performance expectationsrelated to safety, housekeeping, environmental compliance and work quality.
