This is an open position with FE Generation, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FOCM]
The Environmental Specialist at the Bruce Mansfield Plant is assigned to operate, monitor and preformhands-on calibration and maintenance of the air quality continuous emissions monitors and relatedequipment. Examples of the equipment are Nitrogen Oxide, Sulfur Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, CarbonDioxide, Particulate Monitors Mercury, Ammonia and Oxygen monitors, including volumetric flow devices.Other examples of equipment are the probes associated with the monitors and the Data Acquisition Systemfor the continuous emission monitors.
Responsibilities as the Generation Specialist Include:
•Preparing and submitting all required Federal and State air emissions reports.
•Ensuring data produced is reported accurately to governmental agencies to meet quality assurancestandards avoiding fines and penalties along with the cost of emission allowances.
•Providing leadership and assistance on projects that are air-quality related.
•Possessing the ability to work overtime as needed.
Qualifications at the Generation Specialist Level Include:
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or related field. Associates Degree in similar field of studyand 3 years related experience. In lieu of a degree a HS diploma/GED and 5 years’experience required.
•Demonstrated knowledge of working directly with air quality instruments and related equipment preferred.
•Electric Utility steam plant experience, preferred.
•Strong written and verbal skills.
•Ability to work effectively with plant personnel and governmental agencies.
•Ability to work effectively at heights and/or in tight spaces.
•Can work effectively without direct supervision.
Qualifications at the Advanced level include all the above plus:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or related field and 3 years of related experience orAssociates’degree in an Engineering Technology or related field with 5 years of related experience. In lieu
of degree, a HS Diploma/GED and 8 years of related experience required.
