Position overview

The Senior Project Manager will work in the IT Solution Delivery organization acting as the Delivery Manager for the SAP Enterprise Core Refresh program. This initiative is aimed at upgrading all internal SAP systems to the latest support pack along with upgrading the underlying database to HANA. This transformational project is expected to last through July 2019

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Establish the project charter (document project goals, scope, risks, controls, budget based on estimate).

  • Responsible for managing the delivery planning and execution of the SAP Core Refresh Program. Deliver clear, relevant, and timely project status communications to stakeholders. Provides management and strategic direction to a project team. Responsible for the project scope, cost management, and schedule in order to deliver agreed to business and technology outcomes.

  • Establishes goals, negotiates, and develops project plans. Primary technical leader for the IT solution set supported.

  • Work with internal and external SMEs from SCE’s Information Technology’s ecosystem to validate the estimates, ensuring that the right amount of effort is allocated to project activities and that timelines account for dependencies and approvals, and the impacts of other projects is taken into consideration.

  • Work with EPCR Program Manager to define the project organization structure

  • Define and document governance team roles and responsibilities.

  • Chair the PGC (Project Governance Committee) meetings.

  • Assist with Risk Management processes. Possesses expert and relevant knowledge of Risk Identification, Risk Response Strategies and Monitoring.

  • Project/Program Management: Direct program and project planning (scope, schedule, and budget), analysis, estimation, design, evaluation, demonstration, construction, and implementation. Ensure outcomes that satisfy requirements and quality targets, for large and/or complex programs and/or projects with medium to high technical complexity, typically across multiple business functions.

  • Project Reporting and Administration: Monitor, measure and report on program/project progress to management and customers. Support forecasting, cost management, change management, risk management, and project tracking and controls for assigned projects/programs.

  • Integration: Partner and collaborates with other IT functions such as Enterprise Architecture, Cyber Security, Service Management and within Delivery. Consults with, and presents to, executives and senior managers, business process owners, and key stakeholders.

  • Optimize sustainability of implemented solutions with design integrity and leveraging best practices.

  • Lead the planning, the design and execution of the service transition process to deliver the implemented solution into operations.

Minimum qualifications

  • 5 or more years of experience managing SAP-related implementation projects or 5 or more years of experience developing delivery plans for SAP implementations including technical upgrades.

  • 10 or more years of technical project cost estimation and cost management experience with complex technical projects.

  • Experience with various solution delivery models/frameworks, especially SAP’s ASAP model.

  • 10 or more years of proven experience delivering solutions in a complex multi-vendor global delivery model.

Desired qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computing Information Systems, Computer Science, or relevant technical discipline.

  • MBA or Graduate Degree in Business, Computer Science, or relevant technical discipline

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate or other professional project management certification.

  • Experience with various technical project methodologies, including Waterfall, Agile (Scrum, ASAP 8).

  • 7 years of experience leading projects or key business initiatives.

  • 5 years of experience developing strategic technology plans in support of key business objectives.

  • Communications skills – 5 or more years of experience developing and delivering presentations to all levels of staff including management and executive leadership.

  • Matrix management – 5 or more years of experience with achieving desired actions and outcomes through negotiation and influence.

  • 5 or more years of experience making effective decisions that meet business needs while minimizing risk and operating within company policies and all levels of regulations.
