We are looking for a Financial Analyst as part of SCE’s University and Campus Relations Recent Graduate program. This position will be in the Contract Compliance & Technical Services department within Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Power Supply and Operational Services. This position supports contract management, origination, and compliance activities. In this role you will be responsible for administering a variety of compliance programs and will be a part of teams working on requests for offers (RFOs), project onboarding, and a variety of other contract activities.
Typical Responsibilities Include:
- Administers contract compliance programs. Examples include:
Lost Output Validation – Evaluates production utilizing meteorological data and power curves to determine theoretical generation output. Compares to logs of outages to determine validity of claims for reimbursement or availability credit.
Insurance Verification – Manages vendor process for tracking and evaluating insurance certificates. Provides recommendations to management when dealing with deficient certificates.
- Supports Requests for Offer (RFOs) for power, gas, Combined Heat and Power (CHP) and renewable resources.
- Evaluates financial terms of bids, provides recommendations on bid eligibility, compiles and analyzes bid data, requests, tracks, and evaluates cures for deficient bids, organizes bidders’ conferences, and assists in developing presentation to management on RFO status and results.
Manages contract databases, supports data requests and implements process improvements to data management processes.
Evaluates capacity verification program for tolling contracts. This includes: researching contract provisions, performing cost-benefit analysis based on fuel cost and usage data compared to market revenues and compliance value, and recommending implementation scope and strategy in coordination with Technical Specialists.
Develops new contract compliance programs to support achievement of business objectives.
Works with contract managers to verify conditions precedent (interconnection documents, RPS status, telemetry testing, collateral, payment setup, etc.) are met for new projects coming online.
Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Must have graduated in the past 24 months or will graduate by February 2018 with an undergraduate or graduate degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Statistics or other quantitative related fields.
Must be proficient in MS office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience with advanced Excel functions
Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Demonstrated written, verbal, and presentation communications skills.
Demonstrated ability to work within a highly collaborative environment.
Graduate degree, preferred.
Typically possesses Zero to three years of experience in the field of financial analysis.
Experience building reports to track, analyze and maintain the accuracy and integrity of large amounts of data using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and databases.
Experience in energy markets or working in a utility environment.
Experience supporting competitive Request for Offers (RFOs).
Experience developing, validating, and presenting financial statistics and models.
Experience evaluating and analyzing data to determine trends.
Experience communicating financial information to various audiences including senior management.
Effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovations.
Ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
Demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
