Job Description

Perform maintenance/repairs on sedans, light/medium/heavy trucks, trailers and heavy work equipment and any attached equipment, and/or auxiliary equipment, which is part of the specialized vehicles, operated by the Company.

The following list sets forth the principal duties required for the job. This list is not intended to limit assignment of work or the degree of supervision under all operating conditions.

Employee may perform miscellaneous, related, and incidental work in addition to that specifically outlined below.

Troubleshoot, service and repair all hydraulic systems and mechanical components associated with vehicle equipment.

Troubleshoot, service and repair all vehicle components including power train and all applicable operating components of the chassis.

Assist others in the diagnosis of more complex problems.

Operate Company vehicles and associated equipment and perform duties incidental to the operation of such equipment.

Perform duties in accordance with the Company's safety rules, regulations and practices and report unsafe conditions and practices.

Maintain tools, equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.

Maintain vehicle system records as applicable. Attend and participate in training as assigned and assist in the training of other employees.

Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.

Assist employees of equal or higher classification.

Direct the work of employees assigned to assist.

Minimum Requirements

Education: High School Graduate or General Equilvancy Degree (GED)

Experience: At least two years as an auto and or truck mechanic. Licenses/Certifications: Must attain Fluid Power Society Certification within 24 months of hire or entry date or vacate the current job classification.

Testing: Successful completion of the Tuff Tech selection test is required for this position.Must be physically able to perform the duties required of this position.

Must qualify through demonstration, examination and/or performance appraisal as determined by the Company.

Must acquire within such time frame as determined by the company, the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of the Fleet Technician A, or vacate the current job classification.

Must posess a valid state driver's license. Employee shall obtain appropriate CDL liecensing as required by federal and/ or state law prior to the end of the desgnated six month probationary period.

Must maintain all vehicle operation requirements as required by federal and/or state law. Must exhibit competency and aptitude in the fundamentals and mechanics of vehicle maintenance and repairs.

Must become familiar with and have the ability to operate the computer systems utilized by the Fleet Services organization.

Must live or be willing to relocate within 30 minutes driving of the job location, John W. Vaughan Ctr 1800 Loch Haven Drive Roanoke VA 24019.
