The Summer 2018 intern will be part of the Customer Account Management Internship Program and is for Virginia Union University students. The intent of the program is that the student will work full time during the Summer, then have the ability to potentially work part time during the school year. Studentswill learn how to, with necessary guidance and direction of senior colleagues and management:
Manage and advise customers on their electric service accounts including desired service characteristics, equipment, rate application, associated programs and costs;
Provide improved electric service reliability by responding to customer operational needs;
Perform billing reconciliation by analyzing, reconciling and resolving customer or company billing disputes and receive guidance and direction as necessary;
Provide detailed explanation/applications of electric rates to customers;
Perform account consumption history analysis to assist in resolving electric high bill complaints and to educate customers regarding their electrical usage.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The successful candidate will need to have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Ability to follow written and verbal directions;- Ability to exercise significant amount of discretion in performance of duties and responsibilities;- Basic spreadsheet and word processing skills (e.g. Microsoft Excel (data entry) & Word (letters);
Ability to work under time constraints;
Ability to heal customer relationships by defusing angry and upset customers;
Ability to multi-task and process customer requests while speaking to the customer;- Good oral and written communication skills demonstrated by use of correct grammar and terminology;
Ability to process information quickly and accurately.
Candidates must be currently enrolled as a full time student (maintaining at least 12 credit hours) at Virginia Union University with an anticipated graduation date of May 2019 or later. Business, Accounting, Finance, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations and IT majors are preferred. Other majors will also be considered. 2.5 cumulative GPA is required; GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
