Job Summary

The safety intern role is important as Safety is a core value at Dominion Energy and getting experienced safety and health prospects early exposure to Dominion business strengthens the opportunity to develop a sound safety program. The intern will have the opportunity to work with all Business Units within Dominion Energy as well as external regulatory agencies.

This intern will also assist the Corporate Safety Consultant and Specialist in conducting site safety assessments; performing safety and fire protection inspections; perform periodic tests on fire systems and equipment to ensure compliance with technical specifications; coordinate safety and fire protection training and presentations; coordinate site evacuation drills; consult on company-wide regulatory standards; coordinate safety committee meetings and functions; data entry and reporting.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Candidates must have an anticipated graduation date between December 2018 and May 2020.

  • Able to drive a Dominion vehicle and travel to other work locations

  • Candidates must be enrolled in a Safety Management Program or similar degree track (i.e. Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, Risk Management, etc.)

Education Requirements

  • Candidates must be enrolled in a Safety Management Program or similar degree track (i.e. Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, Risk Management, etc.)

  • Candidates must have an anticipated graduation date between December 2018 and May 2020.

  • Must have a 2.5 minimum GPA
