What does the Facilities Superintendent do?

  • Plan, schedule, coordinate and supervise the maintenance and repair of the buildings, machinery, and property at the Company’s headquarters and other operating facilities.

  • Plan, schedule, coordinate and supervise various capital construction projects throughout the district offices

  • Develop capital improvement and expense budgets across all of Central Hudson’s facilities.

  • Develop specifications layouts

  • Oversee maintenance contracts at all facilities.

  • Negotiate contracts for maintenance services and ensure that required maintenance at all Central Hudson facilities is completed according to schedule and within contract limits.

  • Work with Facilities Director to plan and carry out all maintenance and construction related services for multiple operating facilities

What does it take to be the Facilities Superintendent?

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.An Associate’s degree in a technical field is preferred

  • At least 5 years of experience in commercial project/construction/facilities management is required

  • Working knowledge of AIA Documents & familiarity with invoicing is required

  • Ability to read/understand construction specifications & drawings required

  • Working knowledge of New York State Building Codes and general knowledge in all trades required

  • Basic office computer skills are required such as Microsoft Office as well as budgeting software and web based applications

  • The ability to effectively manage, direct, develop, and motivate direct reports is required to establish repair & job completion deadlines

  • Proven track record of leading a diverse organization consisting of union and non-union employees and contractors

  • Must be proficient at handling a wide array of internal customers and recognize the balance between satisfying the concerns of the occupants of the buildings and making cost effective decisions concerning building maintenance and modification

  • Efficient & professional communication skills, both written and verbal are required

  • Ability to multitask with ease & proficiency is required

  • A valid driver’s license is required.
