The Senior Financial Planning and Analysis Analyst will work within Edison Carrier Solutions in Customer and Operational Services. You will act as a financial and strategic advisor to the ECS management team by leading and conducting financial analysis and decision support, you will develop short and long-term business cases and financial forecasts, providing budget support and analysis, leading and developing pricing strategy, oversee and lead the development and maintenance of the financial models used for business cases and pricing meeting investment criteria, and supporting strategic decision making for the business.
Applies expertise in finance, financial analysis, and strategic thinking to identify and resolve unusually complex issues, typically requiring innovative solutions
Leads, contributes, and develops the annual 10 year business case and opportunity specific business cases that have a major financial or operational impact to the business unit or Company
Gathers information from sources both internally and externally and develops forecasts and ranges of financial outcomes for individual strategic opportunities
Determines main drivers for business success/failure and likely areas of risk or weakness and recommends strategies to mitigate them
Provides recommendations on the make-up and values of goals/KPIs for the business unit
Collects and compiles information from various systems and departments to track progress, costs, and revenues for specific opportunities
Compiles, packages, and presents information for all strategic opportunity projects to senior management on a recurring basis
Develops and presents recommendations on whether to proceed on specific opportunities to senior management
For projects requiring significant speculative assumptions, prepares and presents business case outcomes to SCE Finance in preparation for presenting to Executives
In coordination with SCE Finance develop, maintain and govern the underwriting criteria for capital investment for the business unit
Oversee and lead the development and maintenance of complex financial models used for business cases and pricing meeting investment criteria
Engage consultants and third party experts to stay current on the latest pricing model and assumptions for telecom service providers
Provides functional direction to other analysts and support personnel
Develop and deliver periodic training to all ECS employees with job functions that require an understanding of pricing/investment criteria and financial planning and analysis
Creates periodic communications to provide information about specific opportunities, business cases, and any other financial planning and analysis projects
Maintains a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices
Performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics and/or other related discipline
Seven years of experience in analysis of financial data
Five years of experience in the field of financial analysis/planning or strategic planning and analysis or work in modeling, forecasting and business cases in accounting work.
Experience developing, validating, and presenting financial models and utilizing modeling tools
Eight or more years of experience in the field of financial analysis/planning or strategic planning and analysis or similar experience in the telecommunications industry
Experience leading a team within financial analysis or related work.
Experience building reports and ability to track, analyze and maintain the accuracy and integrity of large amounts of data using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and databases
Experience communicating financial information to various audiences including senior management
Experience facilitating meetings and presenting to a variety of audiences and levels across the organization including; Supervisors, Managers, Directors and Vice Presidents
Experience integrating work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers
Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning
Experience in using Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) tools such as SAP or Oracle
The primary work location for this position is Pomona, CA
