About Transmission and Distribution
Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.
The Engineer 2 will work in Transmission Engineering’s Poles and Towers Structural Analysis Group to provide transmission and distribution structural support to SCE’s internal and external clients.
The Structural Group performs a variety of engineering and design tasks in support of the Design and Construction Standards, structural analysis, modification and repair of towers and poles on the SCE system. In addition, the Structural Group leads the development of new structure types, performs structural procurement support and consults on structural specification, analysis of rule changes relating to structures, and pole loading software development. Tasks associated with these functions include structural loading calculations, material deviation recommendations, and Operation & Maintenance support.
Duties include structural analysis and design recommendations for existing and new towers or poles.
Analysis, Design and Procurement of materials for tower and pole modifications Creation and Updating of Design and Construction Standards related to overhead structures.
Use of Finite Element Analysis tools for structure modeling.
Support risk analysis and strategy recommendation development for standards and procedure updates.
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of two (2) years of experience structural engineering
California PE License - Civil
MS Engineering – Structural Emphasis
Engineering experience with Electric Utility Distribution and Transmission Systems using California GO95 or NESC rules.
Engineering experience using PLS-Cadd, PLS-Tower, & PLS-Pole software
