NiSource Supervising Engineer Radio in Plymouth, Indiana

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Assigns and coordinates Radio system personnel job assignments involving all capital construction and maintenance projects.

Visits project sites, holds field meetings with appropriate parties to facilitate understanding of project scope and timelines required to insure a timely completion.

Inspects work and checks progress of Radio system personnel and documents details for performance evaluations.

Ensures Radio system personnel are maintaining uniform and safe testing practices.

Instruct Radio system personnel on rules and procedures that will insure safe working conditions.

Assigns Radio system personnel to investigate and radio system problems.

Investigates and evaluates system interruptions for proper radio system operation.

Provides input and assists with strategic planning to ensure radio communication capacity meets current and future communication requirements.

Determines modifications necessary to reduce maintenance problems and improve communication system reliability.

Works closely with the electric and gas dispatching personnel to insure that all essential radio systems are functioning properly.

Provide technical assistance and engineering services to various departments within the company.

Coordinate communication maintenance program activities and maintains all associated databases.

Inventories, budgets, and orders the instruments and tools required by the Radio system personnel.

Prepare capital budget items for the radio system improvements to insure continued network system reliability.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Required for Selection:

Knowledge of Radio systems and their communication environment

Ability to read and interpret radio schematic and wiring diagrams, operate electrical test and measurement equipment and accurately interpret results.

Communication and motivational skills necessary to lead technical personnel.

Knowledge of general and engineering PC applications.

Preferred for Selection:

Fundamental knowledge of supervisory principles for coaching/mentoring personnel.

Ability to train and develop personnel.

Ability to interact with customers and explain technical issues.

Education/Work Experience: Preferred for Selection:

Prior supervisory experience.

Experience gained as a Level 3 - Communication Control Engineer.

Advanced degree or professional engineer certification.
