The primary work location is flexible. The alternate location can be any Midwest office.
This position is responsible for developing customer relationships with mid-sized business customers and providing advice on energy related matters. This position is responsible for providing energy efficiency recommendations and technical expertise to business customers, as well as identifying leads for complimentary product and services offered by Duke Energy. Typical duties include recommendations on energy efficiency improvements and equipment retrofits, identification of outdoor lighting, demand response, and energy services leads, as well as any future products and services that may be developed. Incumbents shall possess knowledge of mechanical systems, with emphasis on the analysis of problems and the design and implementation of specific solutions. Incumbents should have strong oral and written communication skills, leadership, interpersonal and customer service skills. Extensive experience in mechanical or electrical contracting is preferred. A Certified Energy Analyst, Business Energy Professional and/or Certified Energy Manager certification is desired. Candidates should possess strong analytical, sales, and financial skills.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Perform Energy Program sales for commercial, industrial and governmental Customers. Coordinate with the customers and trade allies to set up on-site visits and determine the Customers most pressing needs.. Oversee the preparation and delivery of an efficiency action plan for customers that identify Energy Conservation Measures and provide a technical explanation of suggested technologies. Work with Vendors, suppliers and customers to facilitate and complete rebate process, from initializing thru processing and delivery of actual rebate. Initiate and conduct energy program sales over the phone, or in person, to influence customers to participate in available Duke Energy programs and drive incremental earnings contribution for the company. Identification of leads includes energy efficiency offers, outdoor lighting opportunities, energy services opportunities, and other products and services that are developed. Maintain current proficiency with product lines, guidelines and recommendations of state of the art Energy Efficiency technologies, and working knowledge of relevant products and services available from Duke Energy for this customer class. Monitor Industry certifications to ensure that licenses (such as CEM, LEED) are in active status. Be active in key Industry organizations. Occasionally Represent Duke Energy in industry and related organizations. Possess speaking skills, technical skills and communication skills necessary to lead conversations with customers. Provide technical training and support to internal and external clients, as needed. Design, develop and deliver training classes. Build strong relationships with partner organizations such as Marketing Strategy, Assessments, Product Management, Analytics, & LAM. Qualifications: Basic/Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university (Business or Technical Degree) 3 years working for an energy utility or services company Sales, marketing, data analysis or customer service relationship experience, e.g., marketing, market research, account management or sales Proficiency in Microsoft Office software tools and demonstrated ability to learn new systems Desired Qualifications
7-12 years’ experience in facility management, product management, energy management, project management, process management or work related experience Future leadership aspirations / potential Ability to represent the company and develop relationships with influential / hostile audiences on contentious issues; on key community, regional or national boards/committees; in community events or with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for use with media, public meetings, etc. Preferred certifications: Engineer In Training, Certified Energy Manager, Business Energy Professional Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills with the abilities to make presentations to internal and community groups on Duke Energy’s behalf and to produce general written messages and business communications regarding internal issues, or customer issues Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment to achieve shared goals; demonstrated interpersonal skills to interact effectively Time management and the ability to organize and prioritize activities to meet deadlines and milestones Knowledge of the company’s strategic plan Duke Energy is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
