About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FENOC, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [PEN]

The Nuclear Specialist will provide senior engineer level expertise in the area of Cyber Security.This position performs advanced engineering problem solving in support of nuclear plant operations and isresponsible for technical decisions associated with Cyber Security. The position will be located at the PerryPower Plant in Perry, OH.

Responsibilities at the Advanced Nuclear Engineering Specialist Include the following;

  • Trending system parameters and monitoring performance of assigned systems.

  • Preparing technical reports and presentations.

  • Developing outage and routine maintenance activity lists.

  • Establishing predictive and preventative maintenance for assigned systems.

  • Developing and completing investigations and corrective actions in accordance with the Corrective ActionProgram.

  • Performing field walk-downs and interfacing with other groups to resolve emergent and routine plant issues.

  • Reviewing and analyzing the plant operating characteristics and both Nuclear Regulatory Commission(NRC) and Industry correspondence to identify operating experiences that may be pertinent to or will aid inthe resolution of plant issues applicable to assigned systems.

  • Reviewing schedules and work orders to ensure efficient work implementation.

  • Responsible for the Process Computer System, Health Physics Computer, and backup to the ERIS System

  • Championing Engineering Improvements and interfaces.

  • Making all technical decisions associated with Cyber Security -Performing Cyber Security assessments asrequired by the NRC 10CFR73.54 (NEI 08-09) cyber security programs.

  • Performing independent research, reviews, studies and analyses in support of technical projects sharingthem with the peer group and implementing fleet and site actions to enhance systems security.

  • Providing in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage and implement engineering activities related tocyber security and ensures compliance to customer's needs, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies.

  • Incorporating safety into every aspect of the job and an overall commitment to safety.

  • Demonstrating a questioning attitude to continue to learn, produce results, and strengthen existingrelationships.

  • Delivering quality and accurate work within established deadlines.

  • Delivering quality accurate work within established deadlines.

  • Troubleshooting Technical plant issues and driving resolutions to completion.

  • Residing within site-specific ERO response time.

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related technical disciplinerequired.

• Appropriate technical skills in engineering and IT, specifically knowledge in cyber security requirements andpractical application and has knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations.

• Nuclear related experience with knowledge of industry-level expertise in cyber security.

• Comprehensive understanding of change management techniques associated with new technologyimplementation.

• Demonstrate leadership ability.

• Strong judgment, excellent analytical ability and consulting skills.

• Excellent communications skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of IT and engineering.

• Must reside within site-specific ERO response time.
