Job Description

Position Summary:

The ideal eLearning multimedia instructional design candidate will provide support to create and maintain a variety of web-based content that supports system-wide learning initiatives. They will collaborate with other team members (instructional designers, project managers, visual media specialists, learning management specialists, and subject matter experts) to design, develop, and implement web-based training materials that will be used in either instructor-led classes, self-guided online courses, or a blend of both. The ideal eLearning/multimedia candidate must utilize industry-standard e-course authoring tools (i.e., Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia, Lectora, etc.) to create elements that involve user interactivity, animation, graphics, and SCORM-compliance. Their work must support the development of content that will perform optimally over multiple platforms including desktops, laptops, tablets, and smart mobile devices – on both iOS and Android systems.

The ideal candidate will incorporate best instructional design practices (e.g., ADDIE Model, Kirkpatrick, SAM, etc.) to support business goals and objectives, and they are responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of training materials spanning a broad spectrum of delivery methods such as print- based job aides and manuals, eLearning elements, animated video, web- based, and blended learning solutions.

Primary Duties:

  • Design, review, and validate course content and curriculum

  • Partner with subject matter expert to maintain/revise internal content and curriculum

  • Apply instructional strategies according to the intended behavioral outcomes

  • Develop visual designs (photographic and illustrated)

  • Plan, schedule, and produce video for training

  • Design and develop dynamic instructional interactions and simulations to create interactive, engaging course content.

  • Develop content-specific, competency-based training materials using rapid eLearning authoring tools such as Captivate, Articulate, and Flash, etc. delivering interactive web based training products

  • Develop print-based training materials such as user guides and installation manuals using company supported software

  • Develop presentation materials using Microsoft Office PowerPoint

  • Write and edit audio voice-over scripts for e-learning, when needed

  • Document each project's instructional, visual and technical design strategy according to the established process

  • Originate recommendations on new ways to make courses and instructional design more efficient and effective

  • Manage multiple projects within the Learning Services team

  • Monitor Learning Services daily activity and project status, as needed, to ensure timely and effective delivery of training

  • Determine requirements and quality standards for materials

  • Develop and maintain training/course catalog

  • Apply knowledge of current industry trends and best practices, as appropriate

  • Deliver training programs, which may include instructor- led, virtual online class, web-cast, or web-based methodologies

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in instructional design or multimedia design

  • Three (3) or more years of eLearning Multimedia design experience required including development with e-course authoring tools; designing and developing media in Adobe Create Suite apps such as Audition, Photoshop, and Illustrator; video production and editing; and planning, developing, and implementing computer-based training in close collaboration with subject-matter experts.

  • Valid State Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Adult Education or Instructional Design

  • 3 or more years of demonstrated experience with:

  • Video Production

  • Screencast development

  • Audio Recording and Editing

  • Graphics Design and Development

  • eLearning Content Authoring tools such as; Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Lectora, Camtasia etc.

  • Experience designing and developing technical/safety training content for the Electric Utility.

  • Tech Savvy individual with the ability to learn new technical systems, software and processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to use a variety of techniques for determining instructional content and sequence.

  • Ability to apply current research and theory to the practice of instructional design.

  • Demonstrated ability to use a variety of techniques for determining instructional content and sequence.

  • Ability to design instruction that reflects an understanding of the diversity of learners and groups of learners.

  • Strong knowledge of and ability to use Instructional Systems Design (ISD) models (i.e. ADDIE).

  • Ability to interact with and convey information to internal and external customers, orally or in writing, in a clear, concise, professional and respectful manner in order to ensure maximum results.

  • Ability to partner effectively with all department staff and promote a cooperative team environment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with members and management at all levels within the organization.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Ability to solve problems and develop solutions.

  • Demonstrated strong ability to organize, effectively prioritize, and manage multiple tasks until completion and according to established timelines.

  • Ability to use a personal computer and MS Office Suite (e.g., SAP, business systems, etc.)

  • Ability to work independently and make decisions that support and align with the Company's overall goals and objectives.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with extensive use of personal computer.

  • Some overnight travel may be required.

  • May work non-standard hours.
