Qualifications: Con Edison is seeking an experienced network analyst to join our Network Systems team. Network Systems is part of a centralized IT department that is collectively responsible for the evaluation, planning, design, and implementation for all of the corporation’s infrastructure components and systems from the network perimeter to the corporate LANs, data centers, call centers, and control centers. This is a technical position with responsibilities in, formulating scope and objectives for system upgrades, changes, troubleshooting, planning outages, detailed documentation, testing, and analyzing network issues. The candidate should possess:

  • High school diploma with 3-5 years of relevant work experience, or Associate degree or equivalent technical certification, in the networking field with proven expertise in LAN / WAN Cisco network technologies

  • Working knowledge of network tools such as Netbrain, BBNA, eHealth, NNMi

  • A working knowledge of protocols including DNS, WINS, Radius, QOS, EIGRP, ISIS, BGP, MPLS, DMVPN, VPN, IPSEC, and SIP.

  • Working knowledge of network security and best practices

  • Understanding of cyber security and layers of protection

  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments in a fast paced environment and under pressure

  • Sound judgment to render sound technical and business decisions

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Proven experience demonstrating excellent team skills with internal and external clients

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across a levels of personnel and management

  • Strong presentation skills

Associates degree or CCNA level technical certification. BA/BS preferred. Programming and script development for management tools and automation is highly desirable.

Responsibilities: The primary focus of this position is to enhance and secure a large enterprise network. The position requires excellent knowledge of Cisco routing / switching and implementing the best configuration and security practices around them. Support of network tools and utilities such as Netbrain, BBNA, eHealth, NNMi, Solarwinds. The technical aspects of the position require firm knowledge of OSI model layers 1, 2, and 3, and the network components of each layer along with a working knowledge of the other OSI layers in order to interpret and diagnose network captures. The successful candidate will:

  • Participate as part of a network team in the rollout and support of all facets of network technologies under the Network Systems departmental responsibilities. These include LAN and WAN networking, deployment of an MPLS core, Cisco UCS and legacy datacenters, departmental VLans,100+ remote sites, Cisco Wireless.

  • Integrate new technologies / protocols into existing networks.

  • Participate in planning sessions.

  • Develop visual diagrams and project work plans.

  • Collect and interpret packet capture to analyze various protocols for performance and/or troubleshooting.

  • Troubleshoot and remedy performance bottlenecks in the network using performance metrics using capacity management and performance tools to measure trends, and capacity.

  • Have strong troubleshooting skills and a personal drive to remediate any issues.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Must be able to lift and rack equipment.

  • Must be available 24x7 for emergencies and scheduling of critical work in order to minimize system impact to the supported business units.

  • Travel to other company locations as necessary
