Con Edison Sr Specialist / 2L in New York, New York

Qualifications: The newly created Universal Process Group is seeking a dedicated individual to join the team. The Sr. Specialist is responsible for leading the continuous improvement efforts in Gas Operations. This role is vital for the successful implementation of a Pipeline Safety Management System in conformance with API Recommended Practice 1173. The Sr. Specialist will play a key role in ensuring all elements of the Pipeline Safety Management System are fulfilled by taking the lead as a process improvement specialist. The primary responsibility is to work with all groups and committees to realign their respective continuous improvement efforts. The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance or related field with 3 years of related work experience or a Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance or related field with 3 years of related work experience. Project Management certification is preferred. Six Sigma or other Quality Assurance/Quality Management certification is also preferred. Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in business analytics, engineering, operations or construction. Experience working with consultants and vendors to manage deliverable quality is required. Must have experience managing a cross-functional team with a matrix organizational structure. Must be well organized, detail oriented, flexible to handle multiple assignments and able to meet deadlines. Must possess superior oral, written and presentation communication skills and be able to effectively interact with customers, support staff, and various levels of management and union employees. Experience with ISO Quality standards and/or API Recommended Practice 1173 preferred. Knowledge of gas pipeline safety regulations and requirements and a deep understanding of gas specifications and procedures preferred. Must be tech savvy and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities: Ensure implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Work closely with Communications lead in Gas Operations. Schedule and coordinate process safety reviews. Create and issue reports with metrics around the implementation of the pipeline safety management system, completion of action items, training and other key performance indicators. Provide guidance on the KPI development and process with Gas Operations and be responsible to report all areas of concern relative to the implementation and effectiveness of the pipeline safety management system. Prepare presentations for executive use. Compile and analyze data to reveal ways to improve the organization’s safety culture. Extract data from our existing systems and processes to define any positive or negative trends impacting the organization. Generate safety management reports based on data collected and analyzed. Evaluate data collected and communicate findings to teams across the organization. Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Physical Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed. Must be able to participate in the Company’s emergency management processes and storm plans as required.
