Qualifications: Information Technology is the organization within Consolidated Edison with responsibility for the deployment, management and strategic planning of information technology solutions across the company’s regulated utilities – Con Edison Company of New York and Orange and Rockland. Information Technology is looking for a dynamic individual to join the Office of the CIO. The company has several major initiatives planned for the next few years that rely on technology; Digital Customer Experience (DCX), Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), and the projects associated with Reforming the Energy Vision (REV). The company must not only implement these significant initiatives in an effective manner but must also consider how projects such as these will impact our business as a whole and the technology solutions and strategy supporting our business. Information Technology is seeking an exceptional individual to contribute to the leadership, development and implementation of the company’s technology strategy. The role of Systems Manager or Project Manager – Strategy and Governance will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to make an important contribution across the company as a whole during a very exciting time in our company’s journey. The candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of how technology enables and supports business outcomes, as both business objectives and technologies evolve. The candidate must display a strong understanding of company’s financial management and project management concepts. The candidate must possess the skills and ability to learn quickly, assimilate new concepts and think analytically. The candidate must be willing to augment their education with courses beyond their formal qualifications and certifications. The successful candidate will be an experienced team leader who understands the critical role of technology strategy, business process and governance to the success of the company. He/she must also have a strong customer focus and possess effective project management, technology and financial management skills. The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and will be required to interface with technology managers and business users throughout the company. The ability to synthesize salient information from large and diverse data sources, including information from interviews and working sessions, to recognize patterns and relationships with the objective of defining information requirements, common work processes and operating efficiencies is important. A minimum 8 years of experience in a business management capacity, e.g. business management, technology analysis, project management, finance, audit, budget/cost management, or consulting. Experience with one or more of the following: business process analysis, project management, technology road-mapping, financial analysis, developing procedures or processes or conducting complex analysis using large sources of data. A Bachelor’s degree level education, preferably related to business, technology management or project management, is required. Masters level qualification and/or formal project management certification, such as PMP, preferred. Strong skills and experience with the MS Office or similar suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project is also required. The candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the company’s focus on safety, operational excellence and customer service.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will lead the Strategy and Governance team that is responsible for developing and implementing strategic approaches to the management of technology across the company. This includes management of the IT Project Management Office (ITPMO), leadership of the IT cost transparency initiative, investigation and benchmarking of new technologies and business practices, tracking of technology roadmaps, consolidation and analysis of related data sets, development of reports and communication tools for various stakeholders, including executive leadership.

The candidate is expected to be a team player and will work with business users, team members, vendor consultants and other stakeholders. The candidate is expected to support the various business and technology objectives, both within the Information Technology organization and across the company as a whole. The candidate will be challenged to learn and understand business objectives and how best technology needs may align across organizations and where points of differentiation may be approached in a strategic fashion. The candidate is also expected to contribute in a positive fashion at times when work product may be required with tight deadlines. Travel within the state and out of state will also be expected to be required.
