Con Edison Project Manager / 3L in New York, New York

Qualifications: The newly formed Gas Program and Project Management Group is looking to hire a highly motivated, dedicated professional to join the organization. The Project Manager is responsible to plan, organize and direct all activities for the engineering, design, procurement and construction of major capital projects and programs within Gas Operations. This includes coordination with gas transmission, gas distribution, mechanical, civil and electrical engineering departments as well as coordination with construction and Gas operations field personnel. Additionally the Project Manager will drive the development of project plans, schedules, manage competing priorities and integrate the resources necessary to effectively implement new programs and initiatives throughout Gas Operations. Bachelors of Science degree in engineering, business or related field with 8 years of related work experience or a Master degree in engineering, business or related field with 6 years of related work experience is required. Must have extensive experience in the construction/engineering of major mechanical, civil and electrical projects and fundamental knowledge of underlying engineering principles. Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in project engineering or project management. Must have detailed knowledge of specifications, drawings, contract documents, prints and diagrams. Must be able to exercise independent judgment and possess the ability to render sound business decisions. Must be well organized, detail oriented, flexible to handle multiple assignments and able to meet deadlines. Must possess superior oral, written and presentation communication skills and be able to effectively interact with customers, support staff, subordinates and various levels of management. Must be computer literate ( MS Office).

Degree in technical engineering field preferred. PE certification a plus. Project Management certification preferred.

Responsibilities: Ensure implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Provides technical reviews of specifications, drawings, contracts, addendums and other construction documents to ensure constructability and compliance with Con Edison standards and specifications. Conducts and directs project planning and status meetings to ensure schedule and financial adherence to projects are being maintained and significant issues are clearly disseminated to relevant participants. Provides scheduled updates of the engineering, construction and budget status of each project to the appropriate Corporate Executives. Acts as a liaison with regulatory and public officials during project implementation and address potential community concerns associated with the project. Oversees and coordinates construction package reviews, pre award meetings, field visits and pre award field walks. Acts as a single point of contact for Construction for submittal, review and coordination of required information and documents. Ensures that necessary outages are identified, cut out/tie in procedures are prepared, permits are obtained for all field work, and any required approvals are secured from Gas Control. Assists the General Manager with the coordination, preparation and reporting of significant activities on construction projects and programs. Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Physical Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed. Must be able to work in various field locations including company Tunnels.
