Con Edison Operating Supervisor / 1H in New York, New York

Qualifications:

Steam Operations is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual who possesses a high regard for personal accountability to fill a Supervisor position in the operations area in multiple plant locations. The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with at least two (2) years of related work experience. Supervisors will gain experience with a control room, boiler and high/low pressure auxiliary operations, plant trouble shooting, boiler mechanics, blueprint reading, and pipe fitting. Manage daily operation of power plant boilers and auxiliaries to ensure safe, environmentally compliant, efficient, and reliable steam energy service. Supervise the startup and shutdown of equipment under normal and emergency conditions, and render decisions to remove equipment from service or to continue operations. Prepare reports associated with root cause analysis for investigation of critical incidents. Issue Operating Orders and Work Permits as required ensuring optimal operating conditions. Supports 2 and 3-way communication, pre-job briefing, peer checking requirements, and STAR (Stop, Think, Act, and Review) requirements. Candidate will be expected to obtain a NYC Stationary Engineer's License after attaining sufficient related experience.

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to work in a power plant environment with extreme heat conditions, noise, high elevations, and confined spaces. Must be able to work under conditions of high temperatures and at high elevations in the plant. Must be medically approved for respirator fit testing and use in a power plant environment. Position requires extensive walking, climbing, and standing. Must be willing to work a full rotational shift schedule that includes working on weekends and holidays.
