Con Edison Maintenance Supervisor / 1H in New York, New York

Qualifications: Steam Operations is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual who possesses a high regard for personal accountability to fill a Supervisor position in the maintenance areas working with electrical or mechanical systems in multiple plant locations. . The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with at least one year of related work experience & demonstrated value added assignments in multiple organizations required. Candidates should have previous experience in the physical installation, repair, maintenance, removal, replacement, testing or inspection of power plant electrical & mechanical equipment. The ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and be able to provide marked prints of field conditions. Candidates experienced with circuit breaker preventative maintenance, testing of motors and batteries are preferred for electrical supervisors. Planning, project management, contract administration and comparable time management system experience/knowledge is also preferred.

Responsibilities: The Supervisor will be responsible for the safety, productivity and quality workmanship of assigned personnel for all types of power plant maintenance. Additional duties include: Supervise union personnel and enforcing all contractual and local work rules, assigning personnel to jobs in accordance with the Station weekly work schedule and performing administrative tasks in Con Edison’s time management system daily. Works with the Planning Supervisor to improve work plans and provides feedback to planners on completed work packages. Ensures that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policies and governmental regulations. Ensures commitment to the Way We Work Principles, adheres to the Company’s Standards of Business Conduct and other Company policies and procedures including Environmental, Health and Safety (“EH&S;”), Diversity and Inclusion, discipline, and security. Attends daily management meetings to report job progress, is fully knowledgeable of work scopes and will submit Work Permit Requests in a clear and concise manner. Demonstrate excellent time management, leadership and communication skills. Organized and able to handle multiple job assignments with changing priorities. Knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft technologies and scheduling software. Knowledge of PC/Mainframe systems required. Committed to providing exemplary customer service in all areas of responsibility. Possess a high energy level and have the ability to recommend and implement change to ensure continued departmental improvements. Strong interpersonal, leadership, verbal and written communication skills. Able to supervise employees and manage their productivity in the above listed functions. High regard for personal accountability and understand the critical importance of Commitment to Excellence. Ensure compliance with operating orders and work permits. Ensure that safe work practices are followed in accordance with Company policies and governmental regulations. Must have knowledge of safe work practices/procedures, operating orders, work permits and use of appropriate personal protective equipment. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and program procedures applicable to Steam Operations generating stations. Candidate must have excellent leadership and communication skills along with the ability to work as part of a team.

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to work in a power plant environment with extreme heat conditions, noise, high elevations, and confined spaces. Must be able to work under conditions of high temperatures and at high elevations in the plant. Must be medically approved for respirator fit testing and use in a power plant environment. Position requires extensive walking, climbing, and standing. Must be willing to work a schedule that may include working on nights, weekends and holidays.
