Position Summary: The Staff Accountant position at BGE HOME is part of an extremely fast paced and growing service company. For this reason the candidate should be highly motivated with strong accounting skills to perform a variety of accounting assignments. The candidate will perform general accounting functions such as journal entry preparation and account reconciliations.
Participate in the month end close by preparing journal entries, accruals and intercompany charges in MS Great Plains ERP (GP) and Oracle/ PeopleSoft ERP (EPS) general ledger system.
Assist CFO by reconciling activity between GP and EPS during the month end close to ensure all transactions are properly reflected in both general ledgers.
Adhere to and sustain aggressive 4 day monthly closing schedule.
Prepare, review and analyze account reconciliations.
Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
Proactively notify Manager or Director of any accounting/reporting issues or concerns.
Validate customer refund requests for accuracy (using multiple account receivable systems) and proper approval.
Understand electronic payment processing to successfully research complex banking and accounts receivable transactions.
Work closely with other departments and regarding accounting activities.
Document and maintain current procedures using the Exelon Management Model format.
Manage Record Inventory for accounting department according to the Exelon Record Inventory Management (RIM) policy. This includes physical records as well as electronic records.
Assist, as needed, in special projects.

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience - preferably in the service industry
Demonstrated ability to work under tight month end close deadlines
Working knowledge of GAAP
Demonstrated experience with general ledger accounting systems
Experience with inter-company transactions and reconciliations
Ability to work independently, effectively manage time and priorities and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Knowledge of MS Great Plains preferred
Knowledge of Oracle/PeopleSoft Financial systems a plus.
