Entergy’s Power Generation group operates a fleet of more than 30 owned, leased, or operated natural gas, coal, oil, hydro, solar and petroleum coke plants, with a total engineering capacity exceeding 20,000 megawatts. Entergy continues to build or acquire megawatts from new hydrogen capable natural gas units, solar, wind and other technologies to complement its existing megawatts of nuclear, natural gas, coal, oil, hydroelectric, and solar facilities.

This position can be filled as a Maintenance Operator 1, 2, 3, or IC&E Technician based on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate

JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the incumbent will be responsible to Understand and Maintain a Good Working Knowledge of the various Power Plant Technical Systems. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing highly complex instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical work involved in the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, installation, testing, adjustment and calibration of instrumentation and electrical equipment (e.g. meters and instruments, automatic combustion control equipment, regulating devices). Complete routine (Planned Maintenance) and unplanned (Corrective Maintenance) maintenance activities to support continued plant reliability. This job includes responsibility for unscheduled call-out repairs on an as-needed basis overnight and on weekends.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Troubleshoot, identify, maintain, and make repairs to power plant equipment.

  • Perform Lockout/Tag out of equipment for maintenance work following the Fossil Tagging Procedure.

  • Specific knowledge and use of mechanical measuring devices, instruments, controls, regulating devices, and electrical equipment used in power plants.

  • Be familiar with principles of operation and function of steam boilers, turbo generators, pumps, heaters, steam traps, piping systems, pressure and level regulators and their controls, electrical distribution systems, and balance of plant systems.

  • Comply with all Power Generation Procedures and Policies.

  • Provide oversight of Contract Partners while conducting work onsite during outages, or as part of planned maintenance activities.

  • Assist the Entergy Contract Manager in ensuring the Contract Partner performs in alignment with the committed work schedule and quality plan.

  • Conduct and participate in job briefings and safety meetings. Be responsible for Contractor Safety and conduct Contractor Safety Orientations, as needed.

  • Comply with all Fossil Safety Processes/Practices, Utility Group Safety Process, Environmental policies/practices, participate in the Monthly Safety Meeting, and open to participation on the Safety Committee or the Awareness Team.

  • The successful candidate will be required to complete the MSDP/ICE Training progression plan.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum education required of the position:

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience

  • Desired:

  • Associates Degree in I&C or Electrical or equivalent Technical degree

Minimum experience required of the position:

  • Maintenance Operator 1 - 3: 0 - 2 years of experience in an operations or similar field, or entry level with a background in Process Technology or Instrumentation.

  • Maintenance Operator: 3 years of experience in operations or equivalent experience in a plant similar to a power plant.

  • IC&E Technician: 5 years of power plant experience or equivalent experience in a plant similar to a power plant.

  • Preferred:

  • 3 - 5 years of experience as an Electrician or Instrumentation & Controls Technician.

  • Experience in operations and maintenance of distributed control systems (emerson ovation system).

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position:

  • Specific knowledge and use of mechanical measuring devices, instruments, controls, regulating devices, and electrical equipment used in power plants.

  • Knowledge of the principles of operation and function of steam boilers, turbogenerators, pumps, heaters, steam traps, piping systems, pressure and level regulators and their controls, electrical distribution systems and balance of plant systems.

  • Ability to read Prints & Schematics, Troubleshooting and Maintaining Plant Electrical and I & C related equipment.

  • Ability to lift and carry 50lbs.

  • Ability to climb scaffolds, stairs and ladders.

  • Must be Team Oriented and Self-Motivated.

  • Must possess the initiative to perform task independently, provide timely and concise feedback upon request.

  • Possess a winning attitude to achieve Departmental, Plant and Corporate Goals.

  • Should possess basic computer skills needed to use the Entergy Applications (e.g. Time and Labor, AIMM, EARL, EntergyNet, etc.).

Any certifications, licenses, etc.

  • Successful completion of the EEI POSS/MASS test.
