PWR Fuel Mechanics:

Generally, AREVA PWR Fuel Mechanics directly support the fabrication and operation of fuel for US Region Light Water Reactor PWR in commercial operation. AREVA PWR Fuel Mechanics will provide the leading fuel development, design, licensing, safety analysis and methods development. Mechanics Lynchburg performs a full range of mechanical design and analyses on fuel assemblies and components. Mechanics Lynchburg represents an international design team within the AREVA corporate team.

  • Job Description: *

AREVA is seeking a Spring 2018 Co-Op for our PWR Mechanics group in Lynchburg, VA. This temporary position in FDE-AL that includes working with engineering staff to perform calcualations, in support of presurized water reactor (PWR) fuel assembly structural design analyses. Candidate must be registered with their school's co-op program.

  • Responsibilities may include: *

  • Performance of engineering calculations using standard engineering computer codes.

  • Prepar ation of documentation supporting engineering studies.

  • Creation or modification of automation codes supporting engineering calculations.

  • Creation of Engineering databases.

  • All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position. *

  • Completed 4 semesters toward a BS in Mechanical Engineering. May also consider Nuclear or Computer Engineering majors.

  • Registered with your school's co-op program.

  • The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position. *

  • Knowledge of Statics, Dynamics, 3D Modeling and 2D drafting, Finite Element Analysis.

  • Experience with MathCAD, MatLab, ANSYS, Microsoft Office.
