Fuels Analyst/Buyer II

A Fuels Analyst/ Buyer II provides assistance to the Fuels Manager in procuring and monitoring fuels and fuel transportation to power plants, performing studies and related analysis to benefit the organization. In this position, you will be given the opportunity to work alongside peers who are versatile, enthusiastic, and continuing to strive to push AECC and our mission forward.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and transmits Request for Quotation to fuel suppliers and fuel transporters routinely.

  • Compiles, organizes, and analyzes fuel quotations and transportation rates and use this data to determine which fuels would be the most economical for plants. Maintains data on organizations fuel costs for reference use

  • Purchases, under the supervision of Manager-Fuels, fuel to be delivered to power plants. Must periodically be able to purchase fuel to be delivered to power plants after hours, weekends and holidays.

  • Monitors conditions of fuel transporters looking for possible constraints or outages that would limit fuel supply. This includes mines, railroad, natural gas pipelines, and other carriers.

  • Monitors and analyzes fuel usage, fuel inventories, and fuel transportation activities.

  • Assists in analyzing transportation contracts and fuel supply proposals.

  • Monitors fuel and fuel transportation activities related to coal-fired plants that are co-owned with other utilities.

  • Communicates with Power Market Operations, Entergy, AEP-SWEPCO, and others regarding fuel matters during office hours. Must provide afterhours communication with some parties periodically.

  • Maintains current information on fuel suppliers and fuel transporters used to supply and transport fuel to power plants.

  • Maintains data needed for approval of fuel invoices.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field, plus 2 years related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Valid Driver's license
