Position Specific Description We are seeking a Sr. Tax Professional to join the tax accounting and forecasting team. In this role you will add value by ensuring that the accounting consequences of income tax transactions of NextEra Energy, Inc. parent company and its subsidiaries are properly recorded in the accounting records on a timely basis. You will use your combination of strong interpersonal skills, experience with multiple technology platforms (SAP; OTP; CorpTax; BNA; Power Tax) and proficient knowledge in large corporate processes for accounting for income taxes to fulfill the responsibilities. You can expect coordinate and consult with various corporate staff groups including the Corporate Tax Department, Corporate Accounting and the separate income tax accounting staffs of Florida Power & Light Company, NextEra Energy Resources, LLC and NextEra Energy Partners, LP. Responsibilities will involve assisting with all aspects of accounting for income taxes (ASC740), including but not limited to: • Preparation/Review of tax provisions • Preparation/Review of analysis reports and tax account reconciliations • Corporate oversight of Tax Accounting database designed to collect current and deferred tax information by subsidiaries by jurisdiction and tax year – verify/reconcile data with tax return filings prepared by the corporate tax department. • Develop and support the Sarbanes/Oxley process control and documentation requirements relating to accounting for income taxes. • Preparation of all income tax disclosures for inclusion in external financial reports, including rate reconciliations, deferred inventory and FIN 48 disclosures • Maintaining tax basis balance sheets • Coordination with corporate tax department for review of income tax filings • Coordination with subsidiaries to ensure tax accounts are accurately reflected • Lead on corporate initiatives
Highly Preferred Skills: • 6+ years of federal and state income tax accounting experience and minimum of 3 years in public accounting (“Big Four”) • Similar experience in a large corporate tax department and demonstrated experience in the preparation of tax provisions, supporting schedules and financial statement disclosures required under ASC740. • Experience in Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Section 404 with respect to the tax process • CPA certification and/or advanced degree • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Solid knowledge of Excel • SAP and OTP experience We truly have the best team in the business.
