Position Specific Description We are seeking a Tax Professional to join the income tax compliance team. In this role you will have several key responsibilities including: (1) preparation of federal and state income tax returns primarily focused on the Competitive business; (2) work closely with the Tax Accounting team to provide assistance in the tax provision and tax depreciation areas, and (3) work closely with Information Management to continue to streamline processes related to tax return calculations. You will add value by ensuring that NextEra Energy, Inc. remains “Best in Class” with regard to the quality and efficiency of our income tax compliance process. Highly Preferred Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in income tax compliance
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar; an advanced degree is preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • Well-developed technical skills with an ability to identify and document both issues and proposed resolutions
  • Proficient oral and written business communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines while managing workload
  • Ability to perform analysis on data and utilize analysis to make tax technical and business decisions
  • Strong computer skills with a focus on both analytical and research tools
  • Desire to seek new and challenging tasks – self-starter mentality

Job Overview This job is responsible for moderate to complex projects associated with the maintenance of tax records and the preparation of all or specifically assigned tax returns, separate company corporate income tax and partnership tax returns, consolidated tax returns and related reports.

Job Duties & Responsibilities • Prepares and reviews federal/state/local income tax returns, schedules, extensions and payment estimates in line with the company’s tax filing calendar • Conducts financial and economic analyses, developing and preparing the organization’s financial plans and budgets and interpreting financial reports and tax returns • Researches inquiries from government agencies regarding filings, compliance, and other claims • Prepares tax calculations to support tax controversy analyses • Conducts tax assumptions in project models • Performs other job-related duties as assigned Required Qualifications • High School Grad / GED • Bachelor's Degree • Experience:3+ years Preferred Qualifications • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) • Master's - Accounting / Finance • Tax Compliance • Tax Research
