NextEra Energy is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer who can apply diversified knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and fields related to wind power generation. This candidate will need to make decisions independently regarding engineering complexities and methods. This position requires the use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices in this individual’s field. Supervision and guidance related largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters will be required.
Areas of responsibility will mainly focus on wind turbine power electronics and electrical systems support and analysis, including but not limited to:
- Troubleshooting/analysis of various current and obsolete power electronic/converter hardware and software (Xantrex, Converteam/GEPC, ABB, GE)
- High power switching electronics (IGBT’s, MOSFET’s, JFET’s)
- Electrical pitch control technology (SSB, GE, Windurance/MLS)
- Large VFD technology, breakers, contactors and high current carrying cables
- Developing solutions to obsolete technology
Strongly preferred to have knowledge and experience in operation, diagnostics, design and repair techniques of DC, single phase and 3 phase motors and generators.
Problem Solving and Project Management skills highly preferred.
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with at least five years of experience in the field of Wind Energy/Power Electronics. Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer is a Plus.
