Position Specific Description A talented and diversified finance & accounting department provides great value to the organization and its stakeholders. Due to the continual growth of our energy generation business, NextEra Energy desires to recruit finance and accounting professionals at the beginning of their careers and develop them into our future leaders. This program will expose the Rotation Associate to the critical finance & accounting functions in both the corporate operations of electricity-generating facilities and the most exciting sectors of the renewable energy industry. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to interact with experts in various disciplines while learning the finance & accounting principles in areas such as revenue recognition, accounts receivable, long-lived assets, operating and maintenance expenses, financing activities, financial reporting, financial planning & analysis, business management, treasury, new project valuations, mergers & acquisitions, and forecasting. A graduate of the program will be well-positioned for a successful career in NextEra’s Finance and Accounting Organization. NOTE: The successful candidate will begin employment in June 2018.

Under the supervision of a trained management team, the candidate will:

  • Learn and understand the business (key operational drivers and finance/accounting issues for assigned functional area and the related market forces)
  • Understand the finance/accounting impact of all relevant transactions and documents; ensure compliance with current GAAP
  • Demonstrate a strong drive to succeed and take ownership of assigned tasks
  • Meet all assigned deadlines related to the finance, accounting, forecasting and reporting processes
  • Build strong working relationships across the organization to ensure the proper accounting, consolidation and reporting of assigned functional areas
  • Support various internal and external reporting functions (e.g., 10-K, 10-Q, management reporting, etc)
  • Comply with all Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) processes within assigned functional area
  • Execute special projects (e.g., software implementations, Six Sigma projects, and implementation of new accounting standards)

*Candidates will preferably be working toward a Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
