Be part of a Team of professional and experienced engineers who provide technical support to NextEra Energy's diverse (+) 40,000 MW generating fleet.

Position makes decisions and recommendations having significant impact on technical aspects of Motors for Power Generation Division. Negotiates critical and controversial technical issues with high level management and officers of their organizations and companies. Plans, organizes, and guides extensive motor programs and activities of outstanding novelty and/or importance that are critical to overall Company objectives. Recognized as a Medium Voltage Motor Subject Matter Expert. Familiar with Nuclear organization rolls and responsibilities.

Primary duties will include:

  • Provide assistance to nuclear plant sites with technical issues related to motors
  • Provide on and off site support for motor scheduled maintenance and troubleshooting, including vendor surveillance
  • Formulate and make recommendations to maximize reliability of power plant motors
  • Perform detailed motor failure root cause analysis, troubleshooting and quality control. Develop new motor purchase specifications. Prepare Motor purchase/repair test data packages; develop motor repairs and maintenance procedures.
  • Position will include other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Position Requires:

Dedicated, professional individual to support maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and assure long term reliability of NextEra Energy’s Motor equipment. Travel is required and averages about 30% of total work schedule. Position will require Nuclear site access and background check.


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and 7 years of relevant motor experience.
  • Hands-on functional checkout and start-up experience with large motors is required.
  • Experience with motor repairs, testing, vibration, balancing, motor re-design, bearings, and lubrication.
  • DC motors
  • Motor installation.
  • High quality written, electronic, and verbal communication skills.
  • Variable frequency drive experience is desired.
  • Nuclear site access.
