Under general supervision, the Transmission Planning engineer will be responsible for conducting studies in connection with the 34.5KV, 138KV and 345KV transmission system to ensure the operational reliability, adequacy, and security. This work includes power flow analysis, stability studies, voltage studies, technical analysis of disturbances, implementation of regulatory reliability standards, and coordination of reliability and economic studies with the Regional Transmission Operator. Other responsibilities include performing interconnection studies for generation and transmission requests and providing technical support to the Transmission Operations Control Center. The Planning engineer will study the current and future transmission system configuration, recommend changes to transmission system facilities, perform economic analysis of alternatives and assist with the preparation of the 5 and 10 year construction forecast plans report.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other related discipline from an accredited college and/or university with Power related course work
Transmission planning, engineering design and/or operational experience
Pursuit of Professional Engineer’s registration or Professional Engineering License
Strong computer skills including power flow, stability, Microsoft Office Access and other tools
Leadership skills and experience
Strong communicator both oral and written
Must be able to ensure the use of sound engineering principles and practices
