PSEG Principal Engineer - Technical in Harrison, New Jersey

The Principal Engineer will perform engineering and/or project work, provide technical assistance through the application of engineering and business knowledge. Perform engineering studies and analysis of M&R (metering & regulating) and Gas Plant asset performance and major component performance and develop programs for the management of facilities to support the strategy of maintaining M&R and Gas Plant assets in the safest, most cost effective manner possible implementing controls as required. Interface with Gas Asset Strategy to optimize M&R and Gas Plant asset life-cycle performance. Initiate and implement methods of monitoring and analyzing performance through quality assurance and control measures. Measure actual performance. Maintain and develop M&R station design criteria and integrate new equipment into existing or new designs. Support M&R Operations: longer-term technical problem resolution; material & equipment investigation; new technologies.

The engineer should be well versed in theory as well as practical field operation of cryogenic processes and Peaking Facilities.

Duties:

  • Provide planning, guidance, analysis, operational and technical engineering support for our Metering and regulating stations, LNG Plant, LP Storage Facility and LPA Plants.

  • Work with supervisors to understand operational and maintenance issues at our field locations.

  • Work with the supervisors to develop plans to improve operations and efficiency through process improvements and modernization.

  • Support M&R Integrity Management: pipeline integrity records in compliance with Federal codes.

  • The engineer will review and maintain the LNG, LPA, M&R and LP Storage Facility Manuals.

  • TCPA Program, PHA Process Hazard analysis, RMP Risk Management plan, PSM Personal Safety Management and IST inherently safer technology

  • Maintain and update prints using AutoCAD, Visio and Micro station

  • Assist with Capital and O&M budgets.

  • Possess a working knowledge of gas flow dynamics, system planning, natural gas composition, corrosion control, instrumentation, flow measurement and control.

Required:

  • BS in Engineering or BS in other technical field.

  • 8 years or more experience in the areas of metering and regulating station, LNG, and/or LPA peaking plant operations and maintenance.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • This is a Safety Sensitive Position - D.O.T. Testing Required.

  • Must display maturity and a high level of professionalism.

  • This position requires period "on call" availability for emergency response.

  • Federal Pipeline Safety Regulations Parts 191 and 192 New Jersey Administrative Code Section 14:7-1
