Meter Reading Supervisor
The purpose of this position is to coach, mentor, motivate and develop entry-level employees to read meters while balancing safety, accuracy and productivity. Additional responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and evaluating employees, monitoring daily performance indicators, completing monthly reports, maintaining effectiveness of assigned meter reading area(s). The incumbent in this position is responsible for execution and delivery against financial targets, as well as performance objectives for multiple offices with an average of approximately 22 employees.
Responsible for providing timely and accurate readings of company meters.
Responsible for documenting employee performance and addressing any performance gaps.
Responsible for providing timely and accurate atmospheric corrosion and internal leak survey results.
Responsible for complying with Illinois Administrative Code Part 280 as it pertains to Meter Reading.
Responsible for drafting a proposed monthly workload schedule with the cooperation of other internal stakeholders
Responsible for conducting quality assessments and safety inspections
Responsible for compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
Responsible for analyzing and interpreting current business results; identifying potential opportunities / challenges and projecting consequences
Responsible for constructing and monitoring departmental performance standards and key performance indicators
Responsible for supervising and informing workforce on company and departmental expectations. (Standard of conduct, ethics, safety, etc.)
Responsible for collaborating with Centralized Scheduling and/or other business partners to adapt for conditions that can adversely affect business and budgetary results (meter reading window, adverse weather conditions, staffing, etc.)
Responsible for enhancing productivity of direct reports through selection, training, motivation and performance coaching
Responsible for leading workforce by modeling honesty, respect, organizational values and fairness to all.
Responsible for motivating employees and partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure meter readings are obtained in a timely manner and are available for billing purposes
Responsible for coaching and guiding employees to follow safe work practices
Responsible for developing and executing on action plans to obtain readings of difficult to access meters.
Responsible for monitoring progress against metrics/deliverables; hold self and others accountable for results
Responsible for developing action plans consistent with meter reading business models
Responsible for monitoring workforce and motivating employee adherence to company and departmental standards, policies and practices.
Responsible for following-up on customer issues and expediting resolution
- High School Education 2 years work experience
- Bachelor’s degree
Related Work Experience:
- A basic understanding of Nicor Gas policies and procedures is necessary to provide clear direction to employees.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
Specific Skills & Knowledge:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
The ability to multi-task effectively
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Solution and detail oriented
