Job Summary

Important: This Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Internship is specifically for a student who is a current Sophomore or Junior in the Fall of 2017. Dominion offers other engineering internships that specifically target other school year classifications, but this particular opportunity is for students with an anticipated graduation date of December 2018 through May 2020.

Dominion Generation's Brunswick Power Station is seeking a highly motivated individual to perform a wide variety of specialized and complex functions in support of the operations of a combined cycle power generation facility. Brunswick Power Station is located near Emporia, Va.

The intern will:

  • Study and learn overall station equipment and process

  • Investigate and solve equipment issues

  • Electrical equipment and control system analysis

  • Develop or support processes or programs for equipment, reliability and safety.

  • Write or review procedures, as applicable.

  • Process documentation

  • Equipment or material inspection and quality control

  • Cost analysis, if applicable.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Microsoft Office Suite Experience

  • Ability to read Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's) and other engineered drawings

  • Basic power plant process knowledge (theoretical is okay)

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Must be a self-starting person that will follow items to completion.

Education Requirements

  • Must currently be enrolled in a 4-year ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering programorpursuing an Associates in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering wherein that community college has a formal transfer agreement with a 4-year institution that grants accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

  • Must have an anticipated graduation datebetween December 2018 and May 2020.

  • Must have a least 2.5 cumulative GPA (Preferrred 3.0 GPA).
