Description

The Water Division seeks a candidate experienced in industrial power and control systems to work in an exciting and challenging leadership role providing front line direction of electrical and control staff. Areas of responsibility include a wide variety of duties pertaining to the effective operations, maintenance, and capital improvement activities of the electrical and control systems related to drinking water treatment, transmission, storage, pumping, and distribution systems.

The primary responsibilities of this position are to work alongside and provide technical and functional oversight of the group responsible for executing the installation, operation, upgrade, and maintenance of the electrical and control system hardware and software. This includes Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) control networks as well as supporting systems, software, databases, displays, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Programmable Automation Controllers (PAC), Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), related communications systems and documentation. The successful candidate will act as the liaison for Water Operations for all electrical and control system integration, maintenance, upgrades and replacements. This team member also works directly with Engineering, IT staff and outside vendors and consultants for projects. This position is intimately involved with the design process providing input to Engineering, IT staff and external vendors or consultants. Must be proficient in PLC/PAC programming, commissioning, integrating with SCADA and troubleshooting. Experience with multi-speed pumping systems and PID tuning is essential.

Minimum Training and Experience Required

Minimum Experience: Six years of progressively responsible experience maintaining and modifying industrial automation systems, electrical/power systems, and communication networks. Experience must be industrial in nature.

Education: Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering or a related field.

Desirable education, experience, training and certifications:

  • OHA Water Distribution or Treatment Certifications.

  • Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) certificate.

  • State of Oregon Licensed Professional Engineer, electrical branch.

  • Any Oregon Building Codes division electrical license.

  • Cisco network certifications.

  • Experience in Water Treatment, Water Distribution, or Water Pumping and Storage.

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of experience, training and education that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying.

Valid driver license: Yes or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
