Job Description The Area Manager is responsible for identifying and implementing strategic initiatives and best practices for the effective and efficient operations, design and construction of gas work so as to satisfy customers’ requests. Along with oversight for all current work activities, the Area Manager is a change agent and leads strategic planning and prioritization for the MERC business unit, through personal leadership and effective delegation. This position is responsible for continuous improvement efforts to enhance the business unit’s key operations processes are executed with quality required to achieve organizational goals. The Area Manager is also responsible for key support functions including financial results, compliance, contract management, health and safety, project management and other business unit performance practices, in coordination with other operating groups and/or other business units. Develops strategic plans and coordinates the prioritization of strategic initiatives across the operational unit and takes the lead in integrating system and process changes into business operations. Responsible for the development and reinforcement of a culture of continuous improvement, customer focus and quality management within the operational unit and is responsible for ensuring the consistent application of project management, process management, process improvement tools and the establishment of effective measures for key process/projects. Responsible for implementing Company’s stakeholder relations and customer service strategies. Responsible for creating and maintaining a work environment consistent with the Company’s values and expectations. Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with union leadership to resolve issues and negotiate solutions in alignment with bargaining agreement, organizational goals and strategies. Select, develop and manage staff in an open environment that encourages employee safety, work force diversity, engagement, and continuous improvement. Responsible for execution of MERC’s health and safety program to ensure safe performance of both company and governing bodies. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction during the execution of the work and by providing reliable service. Responsible for direct customer communication for escalated concerns. Leadership in Incident Command situations and member of the after-hours call list. Act as Company representative interfacing with federal, state and local regulators or governing bodies. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, corporate policies and establish necessary work rules to maintain compliance and safety. Manage operational costs, including the completion of gas plans on schedule and within budget. Defines requirements and negotiates contracts to supplement the company’s work force with contractors.
Minimum Qualifications Requirements:
3+ years managing large-scale projects within established schedules and budget
5+ years Leading in a natural gas utility distribution environment
5+ years Implementing strategic and business plans effectively
5+ years Leading employee team leadership
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree
Area of Study: Business, Engineering, Marketing or related fields.
