Description

Job Summary:

Under the guidance of a Senior Gas Controller, monitor and control the flow and pressure of natural gas on DTE transmission, distribution, storage and gathering systems. Position supports a 24-hour/day operation, with 12-hour rotating shifts. Under the guidance of a Senior Gas Controller, responds to alarms and to other abnormal operating conditions by either directly affecting controls at automated stations or, advising operations’ employees of the occurrence of a problem. Make recommendations for managing workflow, reducing alarm counts, and identifying process improvements. Role is subject to initial drug screening and DOT random drug screenings.

Key Accountabilities:

1.In normal or emergency conditions, takes direction from the Senior Gas

Controller to ensure the stable and reliable operation of DTE transmission,

storage, distribution and gathering systems.

2.Responsible for complying with all FERC requirements, including control room

management policies and procedures.

3.Work to meet daily nomination requirements at receipt and delivery points in

the most efficient manner.

4.Execute storage field priorities and minimizes Company fuel use under the

direction of a Senior Gas Controller.

5.Monitor SCADA system to identify and respond appropriately to abnormal

operating conditions.

6.Check and compile data and prepare accurate daily reports.

7.Review pressure control and construction procedures to ensure safety and

reliability in gas transmission and distribution system operations.

8.This position may require FERC gas training.

Qualifications

Posting Qualifications:

•Minimum: High school diploma or GED required. The preferred formal

education level is a technical diploma or Associate’s degree.

•Minimum job related experience for this position is 2 years; Experience in

SCADA controls preferred.

•Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Word. Proficient verbal, written

and presentation skills; communicates clearly, with credibility and confidence.

•Understanding of pressure/flow relationships and concepts.

•Ability to manage routine/ongoing tasks while responding to emergency

situations.

•Analytical and problem-solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key

issues from a broad range of alternatives, and recommend optimal solutions for

various situations.

•Flexibility and the ability to work with shifting priorities and embrace

new/evolving responsibilities.
