Xcel Energy has a need for one or more Electric Equipment Tester at the LDC in Denver, Colorado.

EET's perform and evaluate high-voltage AC and DC tests on off-line and on-line generation, transmission and distribution electrical equipment. They perform thermographic surveys, ultrasonic and partial discharge detection, dissolved gas-in-oil analysis, pole-top & substation recloser tests, grounding system integrity tests and more. EET's evaluate tests on solid liquid and gaseous insulating mediums. EET's perform power factor tests on generation, transmission and distribution electrical equipment. EET's perform comprehensive condition assessment tests on medium- to large-power transformers, bus, cables, circuit breakers auxiliary equipment and more.
Successful applicants will have a High school diploma or GED and meet the following criteria:
Associates Degree or other Certification in Electronics Technology, Applied Electronic Engineering, Associate in Electrical Engineering, NETA certification, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
Must have a valid driver's license
Must demonstrate journeyman level knowledge of high- and low-voltage test equipment and its proper application and use
Must be able to pass a journeyman level EET test prior to hire.
Must be able to interpret test data and make recommendations regarding the continued service-life of electrical equipment and apparatus
Must know lockout tag-out procedures and electrical clearances
A minimum of 5 years experience in the operation, maintenance, and testing of Substation Apparatus and power equipment is required.
Individuals should have a thorough working knowledge and understanding of computer usage, operating system software, testing procedures, and working knowledge of various testing software application for power apparatus.
Individuals are required to be available for after hours scheduled and unscheduled work, emergency response, and callouts.
Requires out-of-town travel with a company vehicle and stays overnight for completion of assignments, emergency responses, and callouts.
Required to travel in adverse weather conditions to assignment destinations.
Position is required to be able to lift, move, and carry equipment weighing up to 70 lbs.
Individuals must adhere to, practice, and follow the corporate policies and procedures.
Selection criteria will include testing and/or assessment.

Candidates who successfully pass the assessment will be contacted to come in for an information session and interview.
After attending our information session/interview, our Team Leaders will collaborate to decide which candidates are best qualified and offers will be made.
Candidates who accept the employment offer will be required to pass Xcel Energy’s background check and drug test. This process can take up to two weeks before clearance is issued.
After successful passing of the background check and drug test, candidates are ready to start the training class.
