Public Affairs Internship opportunity available for the summer of 2017 on the Dayton Power & Light Company (DP&L) Community Relations team.
Successful candidate should be a student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs, Public Relations, or similar discipline. An academic standing of Junior is preferred. Candidate possessing a strong academic background, exceptional attention to details, strong communication skills – both written and verbal, and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Power Point, and Word also is preferred. Previous coursework or experience in marketing is a plus. Successful candidate will be a self-starter who is capable of working independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
PRIMARY DUTIES :
Under immediate supervision of the Community Relations Coordinator, Intern will assist in performing a variety of internal and external communication initiatives. Intern will help coordinate employee volunteer efforts and will become a member of the DP&L Employee Engagement team where Intern will be responsible for managing at least one employee event.
From an external perspective, Intern will identify all company logo opportunities associated with corporate sponsorships both in print and as posted on web sites. Intern will develop an efficient methodology for tracking the DP&L logo and ensure the logo is displayed accurately. Intern will process company grants, sponsorship-related funding requests, and submit required grant paperwork.
Intern may be expected to complete additional assignments or projects as determined by his or her supervisor.
ACADEMIC CREDIT :
If academic credit for the work experience is desired, it is the intern’s responsibility to provide appropriate paperwork, interviews and evaluations to the supervisor in a timely manner for completion and verification.
