The Engineer I is responsible for the development and completion of studies, recommendations and plans under the guidance of the Manager and /or senior personnel. The Engineer I is also responsible for gathering, maintaining, and updating various program data bases required for system expansion and system maintenance studies.
This position reports organizationally to the Director within the Resource Planning Department. The Engineer I is expected to develop a comprehensive working knowledge of the company’s electric system and must know how to properly simulate the operations of a power system through computer studies.
This position is in contact with several areas of the Company such as the System Operating Department, and the Engineering Department
Bachelor´s Degree in Electrical Engineering
Specify Major (if applicable): Electrical Engineering; power systems coursework desired.
Maintains the load flow models of DP&L’s transmission system
Conducts transmission system analyses to determine the requirements of the system and ensure its continued reliable operation.
Completes PJM Regional Transmission Organization and Reliability First/NERC requirements.
Evaluates generator interconnection requests and coordinates with PJM.
Evaluates transmission service requests from the rural electric cooperative and municipal customers within DP&L's service area.
