Enterprise NERC Compliance Specialist
Enterprise NERC Compliance Specialist Senior
Enterprise NERC Compliance Specialist Principal
Job Summary: This position is within the Enterprise NERC Compliance Oversight team at AEP, which provides leadership for AEP's NERC compliance program and ensures AEP consistently achieves program strategic objectives and provides reasonable assurance that AEP is fulfilling its obligations contained in the NERC and Regional reliability standards. This position includes the following areas of responsibility: independent oversight, participation on cross-business unit teams, process improvement analysis and technical support to ensure the adequacy of controls and associated evidence.
Participation, at appropriate level, in periodic and ad hoc assessments of AEP's compliance with the NERC and Regional Standards.
In-depth reviews of business unit processes, procedures, and related controls.
Maintaining a framework for evaluating the state of compliance (e.g., Key Performance Indicators), including development of statistical methods and metrics.
Development and maintenance of enterprise-wide interpretations of obligations within the NERC and Regional Standards.
Facilitating various aspects of AEP’s NERC compliance program, protocols, processes and procedures.
Participation in performing periodic assessments of reliability and compliance risks and the controls to mitigate those risks.
Maintaining subject matter expertise in one or more areas of NERC Reliability Standards.
Communicating compliance assessment results.
Education: Bachelor's degree.
Minimum of three years (five years for Senior, seven years for Principal) utility industry specific related experience in NERC Compliance, Regulatory, Government Relations, Audit, Generation, Transmission or Distribution Utility Operations or related experience in Compliance, Audit, or Risk Management.
Subject matter expert level knowledge in one or more areas of the NERC Reliability Standards
Relevant Licenses / Certifications desirable
Experience in establishing and implementing risk management frameworks
Experience in reporting
Data analysis and statistical methods
Excellend collaboration and communication skills
Excellent project planning skills
