Job Description

The duties of the Instrumentation Technician are to maintain all instrument controls and control drives. Their work includes adjusting, control loops, trouble-shooting, calibration, and repairing, installing modifying, and cleaning instrumentation and control drives. They must read and interpret control diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and operating instructions for all types of instrument control systems and control drives. They must know the operation of all systems to understand their controls, and to perform tests.

The instrumentation is to include, but not be limited to, all pneumatic, electronic, and electrical control systems for measuring and/or controlling pressure flow, temperature, weight, gas analysis, and water quality. They must also have a complete knowledge of interlock schemes for the control systems installed in the power plant.

Job Requirements

Qualified candidates will have three years’ post-secondary electronics school or equivalent training, which includes basic computer systems. Must also have a minimum of four years’ work experience in electronics and instrumentation. Experience must include (1) Troubleshooting and repairing electronic control systems; (2) Troubleshooting and repairing computer systems; (3) experience should be with systems or controls similar to those in the power plant.
