Position Overview

This position will be in the Transimission and Distribution Training department of the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Organizational Unit.

  • Lead assigned equipment based projects in the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of new equipment, new designs, equipment modifications, selected legacy equipment that have been installed and/or introduced into Substation, systems with or without adequate standards, instructions, or training for ensuring safe and reliable installation, operation and maintenance of equipment.

  • Identify employee learning and development needs and requirements for projects such as knowledge transfer strategies and business models and on a project by project basis developing strategies and providing consultation in conjunction with the client

  • Participate in the standard review process as a Training project lead

  • Manage and resolve of complex issues related to projects management of training development projects (new equipment requires engagement with numerous SMEs and stakeholders and a need to identify new equipment interface protocols)

  • Ensuring project training deliverables (including Capital, and O&M projects) are in line with safety and operational goals, policies, processes, and procedures

  • Working cross functionally with groups to provide project management, direction, leadership, consultation, and collaboration to set and drive project deliverable and minimize scope, schedules and budget risks:

  • Engineering Standards, Advanced Technology and Safety (T&D, Corporate, and T&D Safety Teams) & Construction Methods

  • Other T&D Training Program Mangers/TRSs/Supervisors/Peers

  • Internal subject matter experts, operational groups, cross functional teams and individuals

  • Consultants, vendors, and resources

  • Maintain a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices and perform other responsibilities/duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification:

  • Two or more years’ of experience with project management.

  • Two or more years’ of experience in designing and developing technical and nontechnical training courses.

Desired Qualification:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Engineering, or a Technical Discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in the various designs, construction and work methods of Substation equipment (i.e., transformers, relays, and circuit breakers).

  • Possesses experience in the research of data requirements and preparation of specialized training modules on new technology and equipment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional development teams to address issues and solve problems.

  • Demonstrated experience consulting with clients to design training programs by identifying knowledge/skill gaps, developing curriculum, and managing deployment activities.

  • Facilitated course creation through the direct coordination and direction of instructional design vendors.

  • Has prepared and presented graphic presentations to all levels of employees and management.

  • Knowledge of the ADDIE model.

  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and be customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to clients’ business needs.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with PC applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

  • Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.


  • Project Management Certification
