PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:The Corporate Tax Manager,has primary responsibility for the consolidation of Exelon and its subsidiaries tax provision calculations and disclosures for its quarterly and annual SEC filing requirements. In addition, this position is directly responsible for consolidating and filing the Exelon’s federal and state income tax returns. The Tax Manager, Corporate also consolidates the Exelon long range and current year forecasts. The position reports directly to the Senior Tax Manager, Consolidation and Technology.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Ownership of quarterly & annual consolidating tax provision process to ensure accurate and timely tax accounting and disclosure. Responsibilities include computing, documenting and consolidating income tax provision calculations for internal and external management reporting. The documentation includes the completion of Sarbanes Oxley controls and uncertain tax positions under ASC 740. This position works closely with Exelon’s business unit tax departments in consolidating tax provisions, variance analysis and disclosure materials for the SEC filings. In addition, the position interacts with external and internal financial statement auditors in the execution of quarterly and annual reviews and audits. Ownership of federal income tax return preparation process to ensure accurate & timely reporting and disclosure. Responsibilities include preparation of the Exelon corporation and shared service entity returns as well as leading the consolidation and filing of Exelon’s federal and state income tax returns; in that regard works closely with Exelon’s business unit tax teams to compile separate company information Consolidation of Exelon and subsidiaries long range plans and latest current year estimate of tax expense, effective tax rates and cash taxes ; working closely with and main point of contact for Exelon’s Treasury and Financial Planning & Analysis groups Assists in the implementation of new tax technology initiatives Proactively identifies, drives, and implements process improvements that promote risk management, streamline activities, and enhance transparency in tax work streams. Independently researches & concludes on various complex tax issues to determine the appropriate tax treatment and related tax reporting. Research includes preparing written memorandums for review by key managers and technical presentations to senior tax leadership.
Undergraduate Accounting or other financial discipline 8 years or more of tax experience Certified Public Accountant or other financial certification and/or advanced degree (JD or MST) required. Significant experience in preparation and review of tax provision calculations and financial statement reporting Excellent knowledge of tax laws and regulations 40 hours of ongoing annual continuing professional education will be required of all professionals in the Department (at the Company’s expense). POSITION SCOPE: Reports directly to the Senior Tax Manager, Consolidation and Technology.
