Provides quality assurance and control (“QA/QC”) over the each phase of financial support projects for the regulated businesses (e.g., project set up, monitoring and reporting, in-service and retirement activities and unitization). Review and approve activities of junior departmental personnel. Requires a thorough understanding of capitalization policy, as well as the processes for project set up, monitoring, reporting and unitization for the assigned jurisdictional business group supported. Must exercise judgment and collaborate with operations team to ensure integrity of financial statements.
Project Setup and Approval •Provide training, guidance and quality control to lower level employees to ensure proper scope and set up for projects, and approve non-routine project set up requests •Take action on projects as assigned •Occasionally enter requests into subledger system of record, Power Plan •Initiate follow up Power Plan communications on project set-up to request initiator, project manager and/or others •Identify accounting for projects
Monitoring & Reporting QA/ QC: •Update Project attributes & handle the maintenance of report attributes. •Conduct estimate updates (from FP&A or PM/PC) •Identify and correct errors to actuals and/or approve error corrections by lower level employees •Monitor in service reports and update as needed •Clear interface errors (with Workforce management systems) •Create reports, such as Generate Automatic Rules for Closing (ARC) failure, estimate in service, estimate vs. actual, Rules for Closing (ARC) failure, estimate in service, estimate vs. actual, journal entry notification etc. •Generate any report out of Power Plan
In-service / Retirement activities QA/ QC: •Oversee and approve in service dates and any asset retirements initiated by the lower level employees, including Project Accounting Specialist; may also handle entry •Initiate feeder close date extensions •Start ARC clearing process
Unitization activities QA/QC: •Provide guidance and review to ensure proper categorization, documentation •Conduct feeder close dates •Initiate ARC overrides •Unitize a Continuing Plant Inventory Record (CPR) in Power Plan •Review and post to CPR in accordance with established thresholds •Clear ARC rules – including journal entries Qualifications: Basic/Required Qualifications: •Associates degree in accounting or related field and 5 or more years of relevant accounting work experience; OR 7 years of professional work experience in a financial organization in lieu of a degree
Desired Qualifications: •Bachelor's degree in Accounting strongly preferred •Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) •Experience with the Powerplan system •Ability to multitask and work independently •Strong problem solving skills •Understanding of how operating metrics impact financial performance Job: Finance and Accounting
