This position is responsible for the multi-regional coordination, oversight, regulatory guidance, governance and overall program management for the NERC PRC (Protection and Control) family of Standards for the entire Fossil/Hydro fleet. The purpose of the PRC Program is to ensure programs are consistent, when possible, documented and produce results that achieve the intent of the Standards across equipment technologies applicable to the NERC definition of Protection System. This Program ensures that a common Protection System Maintenance Program (PSMP) exists and is followed for each unit. The PRC Program will maintain an awareness for new and on-going revisions to NERC Reliability Standards, help manage regional Implementation Programs, oversee the interfaces with the Regional Transmission Operators for information and data transactions, milestones for completion of activities, etc. The Program will also oversee activities for PSMP inventories and processes for maintaining and control. These Programs are driven by NERC. This position will coordinate with Regional Engineers responsible for establishing and maintaining associated procedures and technical criteria that will allow compliance with the Requirements of NERC PRC Standards to be achieved within Duke Energy's Fossil / Hydro generation fleet. This role will interface and coordinate across many functional groups to ensure applicable groups understand what is required to achieve compliance, and those timelines. The position serves several primary roles: 1) Oversee the PRC Program to ensure methods are identified for establishing compliance with the required Standards, 2) Support Regional management of evidentiary needs, reporting and responses to data requests required by the NERC Reliability Standard and 3) Be responsible for the preparation and maintenance of fleetwide governance documents, training modules, strategic projects, compliance status and schedules.
Job Responsibilities: •Maintains a thorough knowledge of applicable requirements, interpretations and operating experiences that apply to the program. Responsible for surveying each generating station and becoming familiar with the status of the data and review/update needs. •Provides recommendations, shares best practices and ensures records from all audits and/or assessments are maintained. •Attends meetings/conferences and provides information to FHO management and plant management regarding regulatory compliance, technical compliance enforcement, long-range planning, and status of related projects. •Supports the corporate and site training staff by providing oversight of any necessary training requirements that need to be rolled out to FHO. Assists as needed in training. •Reviews Engineering Change Orders for applicability/impacts. Qualifications: Basic/Required Qualifications: •Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, communication, political science, or equivalent work experience and 7 years of experience; OR 11 years of experience in lieu of a degree
